Revenue cycle · AI pre-bill chart review
Charta Health
Charta Health makes AI software that reviews every outpatient chart before billing to fix undercoding, flag payer rule problems and track quality measures.
Strong fit
- Primary care, urgent care and behavioral health groups with high visit volume
- Practices that want every chart checked before the claim goes out
- athenahealth users who want a marketplace app
Weak fit
- Hospitals that need inpatient coding and CDI
- Buyers who want a public price list
- Groups that want a full billing service
Bottom line
Charta Health is a good fit for outpatient groups that want AI to review every chart for missed revenue and payer rules before billing. It suits primary care, urgent care, behavioral health and home health. Hospitals that need inpatient coding or a full billing service should look elsewhere.

Charta Health reads the documentation for every patient visit before the claim is sent. It codes the note, finds missed charges the note supports, and flags codes that break a payer's rules. It also tracks quality measures and builds scorecards for each provider.
Charta Health connects to the EHR and can fix undercoding in the chart or send it to a person for review. It joined the athenahealth Marketplace in 2026.
Charta Health says customers see an 11% average revenue lift, and that it works with about 100 organizations in 43 states. Customers include Family Care Center and KidsCare Home Health, a pediatric home health provider.
Bain Capital Ventures led both its seed round and its $22 million Series A in 2025. Caesar Djavaherian, a co-founder of Carbon Health, is chief medical officer.
