Cozeva (Applied Research Works)
Shaibal Roy is a co-founder of Applied Research Works, the company that built Cozeva, software that lets health plans and medical groups read quality measures and risk from the same clinician-facing view.
Stanford and Two Startups
He earned an undergraduate degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and a PhD from Stanford University. He held engineering roles at Bell Labs, Sybase and Charles Schwab, and co-founded a startup that Netscape acquired and another that BlackBerry maker RIM acquired. As chief architect at RIM from 2002 to 2006, he grew its consumer email service from 400,000 to 14 million handsets.
Building Cozeva
With Yin Ling Leung he co-founded Applied Research Works and led it as co-chief executive for about ten years. In October 2022 the two handed the chief executive role to Khanh Nguyen and stayed on as chair and board members. "Our organically-grown company has reached its 10th anniversary, and our next growth spurt is underway," they said in a joint statement. Cozeva merged with Vatica Health in November 2025, and he is now chief executive of Applied Science Works, which uses AI to design new materials.
