Founder and CEO

Banjo Health

Saar Mahna is founder and chief executive of Banjo Health, which reviews a prior authorization so a specialty drug is not stuck in a fax queue.

Three Degrees from Ohio State University

He assumed for years he would become a surgeon. He went to Ohio State for his undergraduate degree, then earned an MBA in 2013 and a law degree in 2014, both from Ohio State.

Watching Prior Authorization Queues

He started as an industrial investment banker at KeyBanc Capital Markets. In 2015 he joined RxAdvance, an early pharmacy-benefit firm, and led finance. There he watched specialty-drug prior authorization for a large Medicaid plan: the queues, the back-and-forth, and patients waiting on a therapy.

He founded Banjo Health in 2019 to take that review out of the manual queue. The software is aimed at medical and pharmacy authorization.
