From Pre-Med to Palantir
He was pre-med in college, took a computer science class, and decided not to become a doctor. At Palantir he worked on early pharmaceutical and insurance projects and saw how a payer adjudicates a claim. He left to work on medical billing, a market he puts at about $280 billion, because the visible automation sits on a harder problem of data, rules, and messy operational knowledge.
In 2019 he and Doug Proctor, also from Palantir, started Candid and rebuilt the practice-management system from scratch, without wrapping a bot around an old one. The platform covers registration, eligibility, claims, remittance, denials, accounts receivable, and reporting, and it serves more than 200 healthcare organizations.
