Link Wilson is founder and chief executive of Compulink Healthcare Solutions, a Newbury Park, California, company whose Advantage software combines electronic health records and practice management for specialty practices.
A Side Job for an Optometrist
He grew up in the San Fernando Valley, attended El Camino High School and graduated from UCLA. Looking for a side job, he learned that his optometrist in Canoga Park needed practice-management software, so he wrote it and installed it in December 1985. The first version of Advantage could only record patient demographics and handle recalls.
Building an All-in-One System
In the late 1990s he decided Advantage had to be an all-in-one product so customers would not depend on other vendors for the rest of practice management. Compulink began hosting the software in 2011. "In the technology business if you stand still, you die," he said in 2018. On June 28, 2018, the company changed its name from Compulink Business Systems to Compulink Healthcare Solutions as it prepared to launch a system for multi-specialty outpatient clinics.
