Lawrence Gordon

Founder and Chief Medical Officer

WRS Health

Lawrence Gordon is an ear, nose, and throat surgeon and founder of WRS Health. In the early 2000s he built the record because the systems on the market were written for billing, not for the visit he was trying to document.

Training as a Surgeon

He graduated magna cum laude in biophysics from the University of Pennsylvania and earned his medical degree at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons. He trained in general surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital and in otolaryngology at New York Medical College and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, and he is board certified in otolaryngology. In Goshen, New York, he founded ENT Specialty Care, along with the New York Center for Sinus Relief, Advanced Parathyroid Surgery of New York, and the Goshen Speech and Hearing Center.

Building WRS Health

In practice he found electronic records slow, complicated, and organized around the bill. He started WRS Health from the questions a physician asks: what has to be in the note, what a specialty needs that a generic record misses, and how to run the office without living in the screen. "We built the system I wished I had when I was in practice," he said. He remains founder and chief medical officer while still seeing patients. The software is a specialty ambulatory record with the practice tools, including billing, attached to the chart.
