Elad Walach

Elad Walach is co-founder and chief executive of Aidoc, which reads radiology studies and moves urgent cases to the front of the worklist. He started the company in 2016 after AI research in the Israel Defense Forces, with two other graduates of the Talpiot program.

Military AI Research in Israel

His father worked in IBM's Watson division, and dinner-table talk about it shaped his direction. His path into healthcare started in Talpiot, the Israel Defense Forces program that trains people in technology, where he did AI research on finding anomalies. He earned a degree in mathematics and physics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and led AI research in the Israeli Air Force, running machine learning and computer vision teams.

Three Roommates Start Aidoc

He met Michael Braginsky and Guy Reiner, also Talpiot graduates, as roommates during their service. In 2016 the three started Aidoc in Tel Aviv, Israel. "The healthcare space resonated for all of us," he said. When a radiology department is short of readers, the software flags studies that look positive so those cases are read first, without the radiologist clicking anything. A second job for the software is coordinating a transfer from a smaller hospital to a larger center so the delay is not a chain of phone calls. Since the founding he has taken the company through four investment rounds totaling $250 million, brought 20 product lines to market, reached more than 1,600 hospitals, and grown the staff past 450 people.
