Co-founder and Chief Product Officer

Tennr

Diego Baugh is co-founder and chief product officer of Tennr, whose software reads the patient referrals sent to specialty practices and checks insurance before the visit is booked. He came to the problem as a patient, when a referral left him waiting weeks and sent him back to the hospital.

A Stanford Rower

Before Stanford he rowed at Saugatuck Rowing Club, and he rowed on Stanford's men's team. As a senior in 2020 he went on the Rowing in Color podcast to talk about recruiting and inclusion in the sport after Stanford announced it would cut the program.

A Referral That Went Nowhere

In college he was hospitalized with stomach problems and referred to a specialist. Six weeks passed before he heard from the specialist's office, he did not book, and he ended up back in the hospital. Another six weeks went by before the office called again.

Co-founding Tennr

He met Trey Holterman and Tyler Johnson at Stanford as engineering students working on AI and large language model research, and in 2021 the three founded Tennr to fix the kind of referral delay he had been through. As chief product officer he leads the work that turns a faxed referral into a scheduled visit, checking eligibility, benefits, and payer rules along the way.
