Co-founder and CEO

Phreesia

Chaim Indig is co-founder and chief executive of Phreesia, which runs digital patient intake, payments, and related front-desk work for outpatient practices. He started the company in 2005 and still leads it as a public company.

Co-founding Phreesia in 2005

He studied at Carleton University. From 1999 to 2001 he was a channel manager at OLAP@Work. From 2002 to 2005 he was a manager at Spotfire, where he led the introduction of that analytics software into pharmaceutical marketing. In 2005 he co-founded Phreesia with Evan Roberts, and early on it was "two guys in an apartment trying to figure out how to make the patient check-in at the doctors office a better and more useful experience," as Matthew Holt wrote. He has been chief executive since. He has led it from an early startup to a New York Stock Exchange company, ticker PHR, used by thousands of provider organizations. The software is an end-to-end platform for patient intake, patient activation, and billing support: a practice uses it so a patient can complete forms and payment before the visit, and so the clinic can collect what it is owed. In 2025 it handled more than 170 million visits. "Our view has been: how do we make care easier for patients and caregivers every single day?" he said. He has appeared three times on The Software Report's list of the Top 50 SaaS CEOs. He has been a director of Phreesia since 2005.
