Andrew Lockhart is co-founder and chief executive of Fathom, a San Francisco, California, company whose software assigns medical codes from the chart so a billing team does not type them by hand.

He is a technology entrepreneur with a background in design and healthcare. He co-founded Fathom after his own experience showed him that medical coding is a large part of why a medical bill is hard to understand, and he saw a way to automate that step with deep learning.
By Fathom's count, its technology is used by thousands of U.S. providers, and its automation rates run 30 to 50 percent higher than other coding tools. Under his leadership the company raised a $46 million Series B in November 2022. In 2023 Slice of Healthcare listed him among its 35 Top Digital Healthcare Leaders. "Our AI-driven automated medical coding has helped thousands of medical providers improve patient care," he said at the time.
