Andrew Dudum, Co-founder and CEO, Hims & Hers Health

Andrew Dudum is founder and chief executive of Hims & Hers Health, which sells telehealth visits and prescriptions for sexual health, hair loss, skin, mental health, and weight loss. A classical cellist through his teens, he left Wharton to build companies in San Francisco, California, and started Hims in 2016 inside a startup studio he had co-founded.

Training as a Classical Cellist

He was born and raised in San Francisco, the son of a Palestinian-American family, and trained as a classical cellist. "In my teens and early 20s, I was traveling the world, I was playing weddings, I was playing at Carnegie Hall and touring Europe," he recalled.

Leaving Wharton

At 18 he went to the Wharton School to balance the arts with business. After about two years he found he "was spending more time trying to convince engineers to build things for me versus hanging out at my corporate finance classes," and around 2009 or 2010 he took a leave and came home to join an early Sequoia-backed startup. In college he had co-founded LendforPeace, a nonprofit that made small loans to entrepreneurs in the Middle East.

Co-founding a Startup Studio

After working at TokBox, a video-chat startup, he co-founded Atomic Labs in 2013, a studio backed by investors including Peter Thiel and Marc Andreessen. Atomic started companies including Bungalow, Homebound, TalkIQ, and Terminal.

Launching Hims

In 2016, still inside Atomic, he founded Hims, a direct-to-consumer telehealth service for conditions men were embarrassed to raise, and he has been chief executive since. The company later added women's health under the Hims & Hers name. It went public through a special-purpose acquisition company and began trading on the New York Stock Exchange in January 2021 under the ticker HIMS.

Entering Weight Loss

In 2024 Hims & Hers expanded into GLP-1 weight-loss drugs. In June 2025 Novo Nordisk ended a collaboration with the company over compounded GLP-1 drugs, and in March 2026 the two agreed that Hims would sell Novo Nordisk's approved weight-loss products on its site.

Opening George's Donuts

He lives in San Francisco's West Portal neighborhood with his wife, Lea, and in January 2025 the couple opened George's Donuts & Merriment there with pastry chef Janina O'Leary. The café takes its name from his grandfather, George Cawog, who called himself "the shirt king" while running a launderette in Oakland, California, and often took his grandchildren to the doughnut shop next door.
