Amit Kharat is a radiologist and co-founder and chief executive of DeepTek, a Pune, India company that builds AI for reading medical images. He practiced radiology for 18 years before co-founding it.
Training in Radiology
He holds an MBBS, a DMRD, and a DNB in radiology, a PhD in musculoskeletal imaging, and a postgraduate diploma in hospital and health administration. He has been a professor and has supervised doctoral students.
Co-founding DeepTek
He started DeepTek in Pune in 2017 with Ajit Patil, a serial entrepreneur and IIT Kharagpur graduate who had sold an earlier software firm to NTT DATA, and Aniruddha Pant, an AI specialist. In October 2018 NTT DATA invested in the company, and Ashutosh Pathak serves as chief technology officer.
In March 2021, as chest CT scans rose with the second COVID wave in India, DeepTek's software moved critical studies up each worklist. "For the radiologist, their imaging worklist is actually a virtual war room where they are fighting against time to deliver critical reports," he said.
