Co-founder and CEO
Harrison.ai
Aengus Tran is a doctor and co-founder and chief executive of Harrison.ai, a Sydney, Australia company whose Annalise software reviews chest X-rays and head CT scans and flags findings for radiologists. He started the company in 2018 with his brother Dimitry while still a medical student.
Growing Up in Vietnam
He was born and raised in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where his father was a teacher who had one of the first computers in the country. He and his older brother, Dimitry, both set out to study medicine in Australia, and Dimitry later helped pay for his medical studies.
Medical School in Sydney
He studied medicine at the University of New South Wales in Sydney. As a student he helped set up Qnect, a social ticketing company, which won a Global Student Challenge prize in 2015, and he used money from selling his stake to buy his own supercomputer for AI work.
A 2015 clinical placement at Tam Duc Cardiology Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, showed him how staff shortages delayed diagnoses.
Co-founding Harrison.ai
A visiting lecture on IVF led him to design Ivy, AI that ranks embryos by learning from thousands of past embryos with known outcomes. He and Dimitry set up Harrison.ai to bring it to IVF clinics run by Virtus Health.
Harrison.ai moved into radiology with Annalise, which it began selling in 2022, and into pathology with Franklin.ai, which reads tissue slides. In February 2025 it raised a $112 million Series C, and in 2026 he said the company was on track to reach profitability within two years.
