Abhinav Shashank
Co-founder and CEO
Innovaccer
Abhinav Shashank is co-founder and chief executive of Innovaccer, a company that builds one patient record out of separate hospital systems. Health systems use that record for population health and value-based care instead of replacing the electronic health record.
Growing Up in Lucknow
He was born in Lucknow, a city in northern India, in August 1987, and he grew up there. He studied mechanical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
Co-founding Innovaccer
He co-founded Innovaccer in 2014 with Kanav Hasija and Sandeep Gupta. The company started in India and is based in San Francisco. It signed its first customer in 2016. Before the company, he and his co-founders worked on a data-sharing project connected to Harvard and Wharton. They used that work as the model for combining patient data that sits in separate hospital systems.
Innovaccer's core product is called Data Activation Platform. A hospital uses it so its clinicians can see one patient record instead of logging into several systems. In February 2021 the company launched the Innovaccer Health Cloud, so customers and partners could build their own applications on the same platform. In 2017 Forbes named him to its 30 Under 30 Asia list in enterprise technology.
On February 24, 2021, Innovaccer announced a Series D at a $1.3 billion post-money valuation, led by Tiger Global Management, and said total capital raised was then over $225 million. On December 15, 2021, TechCrunch reported a $150 million Series E led by Mubadala Capital. That round valued the company at $3.2 billion and brought total capital raised to over $375 million. TechCrunch reported more than 50 customers, including Banner Health and Roche. In the February release, Innovaccer said the software was in use at more than 1,000 U.S. locations and by more than 37,000 providers, and that customers had unified records for more than 24 million people. Those figures are the company's own.
Family in San Francisco
He lives in San Francisco with his wife and their daughter, Avni.
