Itiliti Health vs Rhyme
Updated October 20, 2026
Prior authorization means a doctor's office must get an insurer's approval before certain tests, drugs, or procedures, and much of that back-and-forth still runs on faxes, phone calls, and payer portals. Itiliti Health and Rhyme both automate it electronically, but they start from opposite ends of the request: Itiliti mostly helps health plans turn their medical policies into clear rules, while Rhyme helps hospitals and large groups send requests to many payers from the EHR. A federal rule requires most health plans to support electronic prior authorization starting next year, which makes the choice more pressing, so we compared the two.
Our analysts compared Itiliti Health and Rhyme on main job, buyer, what success depends on, results, and setup, using the HIR review of each company and Itiliti's own announcements this year. In the following sections, we compare them in one table, describe the buyer each one suits, and note Itiliti's leadership additions ahead of the federal deadline.
